Sellwood resident Melanie Green has just published her first book of poems, entitled “Determining Sky”, issued by Press-22, here in Portland. With the classic stretch of an earthbound creature, Green describes a reach for freedom by defining images of the sky. Her book is a cohesive collection of poems with celestial images of birds, bats, dragonflies, and eagles, while weather symbols such as rain, clouds, sunrise and shadows shape a depth to her appreciation of Nature.
